Jubilee Trophy

Dun Whinny members enjoyed a superb day’s golf on Saturday 28th June in a traditional competition with a new twist.

The Jubilee is an opportunity for Dun Whinny members to invite their guests to enjoy the superb facilities at Gleneagles. The emphasis is always on enjoyable social golf with a wide range of excellent prizes, rounded off with an early supper.

Normally played over the Queens course the club parted with tradition this year and arranged a shotgun start over the PGA Centenary course. This presented members and their guests with a true challenge as the course is now approaching its full Ryder Cup condition with pristine fairways and fast, true greens. Oh, and quite thick rough in places!

Despite a late burst of rain, which did nothing to dampen enthusiasm, some excellent scores were posted. With an outstanding better ball score of 62 Harry McGeough and his guest A Doran won first prize – bed and breakfast for 4 in Gleneagles Hotel.

Many other prizes were awarded for net and scratch scores as well as the ever popular ‘Magic 2’s’.

Following the prize giving everyone sat down to an excellent two course meal in the sumptuous surroundings of the Glendevon suite.

Another great day for this remarkable golf club.
