The second Dun Whinny Pro Am was held on Saturday 16th May and proved to be another resounding success.
Despite the blustery conditions both the professional and the amateur teams put up some very creditable scores.
The day concluded with an excellent 3 course dinner in the Mitchell Room of the Dormy House where we were well catered for by Richard and his team.
A quick game of Kings and Queens by the evening’s chairman Stewart Lockhart raised some worthwhile funds for this year’s nominated charity( SAMH) – the Scottish Association for Mental Health, and the final tally showed that Dun Whinny was able to send a cheque for £1,700.
Eric Davidson entertained us after dinner with a Chick Murray type act that was well received and George McNeil then topped off a wonderful evening with some highly entertaining stories and jokes all delivered in the style of the true professional that he is.
Captain Mike Collier brought the evening to an end with a vote of thanks to all who contributed to this year’s event, which is quickly becoming a “must not miss” event in the Dun Whinny calendar.
There were plenty of prizes on offer, with the medal winners on the Kings and Queens being the teams captained by, respectively, Chris McLaren and Douglas Laing. The professional’s prize was won by Chris Kelly.
Thank you to all who contributed through sponsoring, playing and organising this excellent event.
In particular, thanks go to Stewart Lockhart and David McLeod for their meticulous organisation.
