Stewart Lockhart turned in an excellent performance on Saturday 22 August to win the Gordon Lockhart Trophy by two shots from Ken Smith and Martin Super.
This is a 36 hole stroke play competition played over the Kings and Queens courses and Stewart was a model of consistent golf as he carded a net 73 (Kings) and then a 69 (Queens). Ken had the low round of the day with a net 68 (gross 70) on the Queens in the afternoon but it wasn’t quite enough to edge out Stewart. In – form Martin Super was poised for victory before coming to grief on the notorious 17th short hole on the Queens.
There were 7 magic ‘2’s, each scooping £7 from the prize pot.
Next week is the D F Darroch Trophy – a stroke play event over the Queen’s course. Let’s have a great turnout for this event.
Congratulations, Stewart. A very solid performance!
Well done Stewart great play holding off the charge from Superman who is showing great form .
