Charity “Blind” 4BBB
While the semi-finals of the Club Championship and the Millennium Trophy were underway on the Kings and Queens courses this morning, a group of 16 “Charitable Chaps” embraced the challenge on the PGA of participating in an intriguing variation of team golf called a "Blind “4 Ball Better Ball!
In this unique format, each player recorded their individual scores, and later, a few of the aforementioned semi-finalists assisted in making a random draw to turn the 16 individuals into 8 pairs.
The scores posted during the competition were highly competitive, with Gordon Stewart and Kevin Beattie achieving an impressive 41, which happened to match the score of Richard Bateman and Ken Marshall.
However, this score secured both teams a share of third place.
David Watt and James Hardy took second place, scoring one point higher with a commendable 42.
The ultimate victors, Mike Page and Douglas Hamilton, established a commanding lead with a remarkable score of 23 points out and 23 points on the back nine, totalling an impressive 46 points.
Their remarkable performance resulted in a clear victory, securing a four-point lead over their closest competitors.
Following on from Ken’s post, we would be grateful if competitors could send their donations to the DW bank account (suggested minimum £20, which will be matched by the club).
Any other members who were unable to play in the competition are also welcome to donate.
Please use the reference 4BBB with your name to enable us to track who is making the donation.
Mike Page and Douglas Hamilton now have to decide which charity or charities are to receive the donation and we will send out further comms to let all members know how much was raised and which cause(s) were chosen.
Thank you again to those who have taken the time to donate already :)
