St Andrews Day Scramble. Saturday November 30th. PGA.

The weather was kind and the competition was close. The victors were team Logie with a gross 64 followed by team Moran, who would have tied had Tony’s Tee shot at the 14th gone in - see pic below. Team Penman were next on 66 followed by teams Marshall and Higham on 68. Every team handicap was between 5.2 and 5.6 so the nett results were exactly the same.

Draw as above. The first 5 groups are playing in the scramble and the final one is playing their 4BBB tie. We currently have one reserve.

Tony Moran’s Tee shot at the 14th was very close to going in!

Dickson and Docherty were the victors in the Winter Fourball tie.

Weather Permitting we are having a Texas Scramble on the PGA this Saturday, November 30th. We have 5 tee times available so can accommodate a maximum of 20 players. We have 18 already so only need two more. You can enter on the app as usual although scoring will be done “old style” via a card and a pencil. If we end with with too many players then I will start a reserve list.

David Logie is organising and has even produced a full set of rules as follows:

Texas Scramble Rules

1. Texas Scramble - Format : Each team shall consist of 3 or 4 players playing in the SAME team. All members of the team shall hit one tee shot on every hole. The team then selects one tee shot and continues play from that point. This procedure is repeated until the ball is holed out.

2. Number of Tee Shots Required per Team : In a team of FOUR, each player’s tee shot must be used at least FOUR times during the 18 holes competition. In a team of THREE, each player’s tee shot must be used at least FIVE times.

3. Where to Play From : Shots From OTHER THAN the Putting Green. Ball to be PLACED even if in the rough (Winter rule only). Each team member must play their shot from within one club length of the selected shot (not nearer the hole). All players may lift and clean the ball.

4. Where to Play From: Shots On the Putting Green. Ball to be PLACED : Once the team’s balls have reached the putting green, the selected ball should be marked and another spot should be marked approximately 6 inches to the side, not nearer to the hole.

5. Handicap Requirements : Full allowance at 100% of course handicap.

6. How to Determine Team Handicap and NET Score : Handicap Allowance is 10% of combined Handicaps for 4 Player Teams, 15% of combined Handicaps for 3 Player Teams. Handicap Allowances will be calculated to one decimal place. Example: 4 Player Team with combined handicap of 48 x 10% = 4.8 strokes of total gross score (e.g. final gross is 71 - 4.8 =  66.2. One player from each team to record the gross score on a card.
