Winners Final and Stroke Play Round 3. Kings Saturday October 5th.

Jon "Sandy" Cooper getting up and down from yet another bunker at the 11th.

The weather was decent, the Kings was in good condition and the greenkeeper had obviously had a heavy night as some of the pin positions were “challenging”…. most found it quite difficult with only one nett score under 70 and only 4 gross scores under 80. There were four different prizes to be won and they went as follows:

Medal Final Best Nett: this would have been an incredibly close contest with 4 people shooting 70 and another 3 on 71 but Jonny Dickson, who had qualified by shooting a nett 61 in the first round of the Strokeplay Championship, shot a ridiculous gross 84, nett 62 to win comfortably. He wins a Dun Whinny decanter.

Medal Final Best Gross: Al Cantlay set a decent target of 74 which survived until David Logie pipped him with a 72. His adds another Decanter to his collection of Dun Whinny Crystal.

Stroke Play Gross: David also managed to win this as his only real competitor, Jon Cooper, failed to complete the first which handed him the trophy which he wins for the fifth time.

Stroke Play Nett: Only 4 people managed to submit a score in all 3 rounds….. weirdly all were current Council Members. Tying for third were Aidan O’Carroll and Frank Johnson and we also had a tie for first between David Logie and Ken Marshall. Off to the constitution we went and the winner, by virtue of a better final round is ….. me :)

Well done to everyone who won a prize and especially well played to Jonny for an incredible score today.

Next up we have the DF Darroch Stableford on the Queens with a guest appearance from former member David Roxburgh.
