Winter Comp, PGA, Saturday February 22nd.

Report from today’s guest reporter Tariq Ali

Finally!

After so many abandoned Saturday medals recently, the weather relented, and we were able to get today’s Stableford completed. Although it was a tad wet underfoot on the PGA course, it was a beautiful winter morning for all those who participated.

Congratulations to Mr Sandy Grant for his score of 37 pts even with two blobs on his front 9! He was such a gracious winner in our fourball as he and Craig Scott beat Ian Aitchison and I by 5&4. Handicap review me thinks!

Even though he was matched by Messers McGill and Z McNeil, Sandy wins by dint of his better back 9 of 20pts. If only Billy McNeil could have avoided the four (!) blobs and replicated his 21pts on his front 9, no one would have caught him.

Shot of the day goes to Tony Moran on 8. His drive to 10 feet led to an eagle and 4 points. Honourable mention goes to Mr Grant for his miraculous shot on 6, which went through the trees on the right, hit the cart path, bounced off the bank, and rolled to 3 feet for a simple birdie putt to put his team 3 up.

Next week we have a Stableford on Queens followed by Captain Vs Vice Captain on Kings 8th March.

Remember the AGM is on the 7th March. Please reply to Keith Stirling’s email to confirm attendance or to give your apologies.
