Monthly Medal

A lovely morning greeted the early starters in our monthly medal on the Kings this morning and for a while it felt like we were in Portugal with Frank. It didn’t last however and the later starters got some much needed light rain!

With many of our in form players taking a well earned break this was a chance for someone different to step up. First out at 7.30 Paul Lewis and Jim Crawford set the early pace, both coming back in nett 32 for two and three under respectively. These scores would normally be in with a chance of winning but not today.

Blake Brad, playing his first event this year went out in 32, he then improved on this, coming home in 30 to shoot an incredible gross 82, nett 62, to win comfortably. He did tell us a while back that he planned to win things this year and he has certainly started well. Congratulations Blake!

Worth a mention were Mike Page who recovered well from last week’s Captain/Pro loss to shoot one under, David Mitchell coming back in 33 nett to shoot level par and Patrick Elsmie who after equalling Blake’s 32 out let things slip on the way back.

Best Gross was a tie on 73 between Neil Lock and George Stubbs with George winning as he was one shot better on the back nine.

News from Scottish Golf is that the scoreboard order issue should be fixed in their next update and just a reminder to everyone that if you don’t get “sign my card” when you finish you need to check your score and confirm it to me. The easiest way is to email me any changes or send me a scorecard. I am not able to confirm the result until all scores have been verified so if you are towards the end of the field please do this as soon as you can.

Coming up this Wednesday we have our 5 Club event on the Queens. There is a trophy up for grabs which is normally won by Paul Kelly but everyone is allowed to win. We are back to medal format this year and playing from the white tees. Our club times are 3.30-4.30 and you can book these directly on the app. As with most of our events you can also book your own time but please let me know so I can add it to allow you to play in the competition.

We will spend the next two Saturdays playing Rounds one and two of the Princess Pot on the PGA. These are stablefords from the yellow tees with the best total score winning the trophy. If you can’t make both then feel free to enter one and get a score for your handicap.

Lastly, if you haven’t done so already please get your singles and foursomes ties arranged. Singles first round matches need to be played by May 15th and second rounds by June 5th. First round foursomes ties need to be played by 29th May.
