Christmas Scramble
Well the weather was kind, the course was great, most people turned up and we had a superb event to finish off the year. Many thanks to everyone who played and to David Logie for organising. The scores on the doors were as follows:
Team Lambert 66 : Gross 66 nett 61
Team Campbell : Gross 64 nett 59.7
Team Smith (as per list minus Page and Brannon but plus Watson) Gross 66 nett 58.8
Team Marshall: Gross 63 nett 58.4
Winners: Team Logie: Gross 60 Nett 55.5
Well done to the three David’s and Jonathon who each win a bottle of wine donated by the Council members who took part. We should make this an annual event!
Update 22/12: Rather than make the draw tomorrow we did it ahead of time and it is as shown below. If you can’t make it for whatever reason please let David and myself know so we can inform the reserves.
Weather Permitting we are having a Texas Scramble on the Queens this Saturday, December 23rd. Plan is to meet up in the Dormy around 8.30 where teams will be selected. NOTE: we have 5 tee times available so can accommodate a maximum of 20 players. We already have 20 (list below) so I have closed off the entry list. If you would like to play please let me know so I can add you to the reserve list and if you are on the list but cannot play please let me know asap.
David Logie is organising and has even produced a full set of rules as follows:
Texas Scramble Rules
1. Texas Scramble - Format : Each team shall consist of 3 or 4 players playing in the SAME team. All members of the team shall hit one tee shot on every hole. The team then selects one tee shot and continues play from that point. This procedure is repeated until the ball is holed out.
2. Number of Tee Shots Required per Team : In a team of FOUR, each player’s tee shot must be used at least FOUR times during the 18 holes competition. In a team of THREE, each player’s tee shot must be used at least FIVE times.
3. Where to Play From : Shots From OTHER THAN the Putting Green. Ball to be PLACED even if in the rough (Winter rule only). Each team member must play their shot from within one club length of the selected shot (not nearer the hole). All players may lift and clean the ball.
4. Where to Play From: Shots On the Putting Green. Ball to be PLACED : Once the team’s balls have reached the putting green, the selected ball should be marked and another spot should be marked approximately 6 inches to the side, not nearer to the hole.
5. Handicap Requirements : Full allowance at 100% of course handicap.
6. How to Determine Team Handicap and NET Score : Handicap Allowance is 10% of combined Handicaps for 4 Player Teams, 15% of combined Handicaps for 3 Player Teams. Handicap Allowances will be calculated to one decimal place. Example: 4 Player Team with combined handicap of 48 x 10% = 4.8 strokes of total gross score (e.g. final gross is 71 - 4.8 = 66.2. One player from each team to record the gross score on a card.
