Club Championship Qualifying

4th June 2022

The first round of our Club Championship Qualifying was held this morning in glorious sunshine on the PGA course. Although conditions were great some tricky pins and the rapidly growing rough made scoring difficult and only two players broke 80!

All the scores are below, the top 8 combined gross scores from today and next week on the Kings qualify to play in the Club Championship on the Kings and the best 8 nett scores (excluding those who have qualified for the Championship) qualify for the Millennium Handicap Knockout on the Queens.

Both of these events are on the fixture list (and on the app). The quarter Finals take place on the evening of Friday June 24th the semis are on the morning of Saturday June 25th with the Finals on the morning of Sunday June 26th. If you are not available for ALL of these dates please let me know so I can exclude you from the draw. Spectators are welcome, especially for the finals.

A quick summary of todays action: it is no surprise to see Neil and David leading the qualifiers. Mike Collier is worth a mention, he arrived 5 mins before his tee time, waggled his club a couple of times, hit his ball into some bushes, moaned that he should have stayed in bed then hit a provisional. Despite a 6 at the first he went round in gross 80 nett 67. This takes him to the top of the order of merit, table below. Keith Stirling continued his good form and kept it together this week shooting under his handicap and is looking good for a place in the Championship.

Well done to everyone for getting the scoring on the app 100% correct again, it saves me lots of time and I can now go and enjoy the sunshine. Lastly it was great to see Eric back and nice that he managed to break 100, just, more on him next week
