Dun Whinny Vs The Dukes

On Sunday 15 October 2023, Dun Whinny took on the challenge posed by The Dukes.

Following the usual pleasantries and more importantly, coffee and bacon rolls both teams headed for the first Tee’s of The Kings and The PGA. A fine afternoon of weather, well for October in Scotland!, followed and surprisingly some good golf was also present.

Things were looking good upon our return to The Dormy with the first two Dun Whinny groups of Aitchison / Simpson and Page / Lockhart recording 5&4 and 3&2 victories respectively, however I would add the advantageous strength of Simpson was evident, carrying Acting Captain Aitchison for the first eleven holes, (must have been the pressure of greatness).

Unfortunately, it soon became apparent that it was not going to be Dun Whinny’s day, a narrow loss for the final group on the Kings and a three match loss on The PGA!

Admittedly, we don’t play the PGA as often, together with, it’s fairly close resemblance to the Dukes, I feel, was a contributing factor, however, to protect the guilty the remaining players will remain anonymous, but you all know who you are.

Joking aside, a great day was had, plenty of good chat, jokes and stories, in all, how golf should be played, but we should have won!
