Muirfield Salver and Other News
Our annual away day took place yesterday at the Castle Course in St Andrews. The weather was windy but mainly dry and considerably better than it would have been had we been playing at Gleneagles. The greens were not quite up to standard but other than that the course was great and we were looked after very well by the friendly staff.
The early pace was set by Jim Crawford, pictured above, who broke 90 to make a solid 34 points. I was also playing well but 42 putts was never going to produce a decent score! Playing in the middle of the field Stewart Lockhart and Rob Crockart were both going well and finished with 38 and 36 points respectively to set a new target.
in the final group Paul Kelly and Tony Moran made 35 and 34 points despite being paired with Eric, who was determined to beat Daley to the wooden spoon, but the main action was in the penultimate group where Alan Black, watched by everyone who had already finished from the clubhouse, needed a par 5 to beat Stewart by a shot. A lot of shots were played but fortunately for Alan these were by his partners and he secured the par which gave him a narrow one shot victory, the Muirfield Salver and his second title in 24 hours. Congratulations Alan.

We have a busy few weeks coming up with the final round of this years Stroke Play Championship taking place on the Kings on Saturday, our mixed Fours on the Queens on Sunday, the Captains Prize on Saturday 17th, the Autumn Meeting on the 24th and our Medal Final on October 1st. These will no doubt have a major impact on this years Order of Merit which looks like going down to the wire again. These, and all the October events are now on the app so feel free to sign up.
Lastly congratulations to David McLeod and Jason Wilding for reaching the final of the singles KO and to Alan Black and Douglas Hamilton for winning the foursomes albeit by default as Andy Barton forgot to turn up!
