Roy Nicolson Salver

Patrick Cantlay’s brother Nicks tee shot on the 9th. 50 yards short of the green!

A massive field of 38 players plus two guest pros enjoyed a beautiful morning on an immaculate Queens course to compete for the Roy Nicolson Salver. Good scores were expected and several appeared:

First out at 7.20 Daley Smith showed what could be done by scoring 35 points despite two blobs. Second out at 8.00 Mark Higham was looking great but a 6 at 16 and a blob at 17 left him on 36. Directly behind him Ken Marshall held it together for a change to shoot a gross 71 and set new target of 39 points!

Paul Kelly then Alan Roe both managed a very creditable 37 points to move into second spot leaving only Crawford Gray, playing in the final group, with a chance. He needed to finish par par to tie, and win on a countback, but unfortunately took one more to finish second on 38 points. He did however break his age by two shots which is a tremendous achievement and I actually feel a tiny bit sad that he didn’t win :)

Its been a long time coming but I finally get a win and an excuse to go to the dance to collect a prize. Full scores are on the app, best ones are as follows:

Next Saturday we have our outing to the Castle Course. We are teeing off between 1pm and 2.30pm and eating beforehand so please check your tee time on the app and arrive around 90 mins beforehand. Daley will be in touch re meal choices and final arrangements.
