August Monthly Medal

Our August Monthly Medal on the Kings started off wet and windy and finished off sunny and windy. The combination of tricky weather conditions combined with some “interesting” pin positions made it a challenge that many failed with over 1/3 of the field failing to complete a score…..

Only Neil Lock managed to break 80 and he wins the gross prize with a 79 narrowly defeating the oldest player in the field, Ian Milton, who was only 3 shots over his age shooting an amazing gross 80. Well done both.

Ian’s nett 72 was easily good enough to win the nett prize two shots ahead of Douglas Hamilton with a nett 74. Also worth a mention are Colin Campbell with a nett 75 and Frank Johnson who shot nett 77 despite playing the first 4 holes of the back nine in 8 over!

Challenging as it was as least one of us played every hole pretty well. Our best “Club Gross Score” (the best score anyone of us made at each hole) was an amazing 62 and our “Best Nett Club Score” was 50. Don’t expect this sort of info every week, I only did it this time as I was finished by 10.30 and had some spare time on my hands😊

Next up we have the Roy Nicolson Stableford on the Queens next Saturday, our trip to the Castle Course (which is now fully subscribed) on September 3rd and the Final Round of the Stroke Play Championship on the Kings on September 10th.

Best scores from today are as follows, the full gory details can be seen on the app.

And finally the winner of last weeks caption competition was Eric with….

‘No honestly it was me, not my father with the same name, that won the Dun Whinny championship 29 years ago!’

‘I remember the weather was exactly the same in 1957’.
