Presidents Platter Result. 6/7/23
6/7: Round Two of this years Presidents Platter took place on the Queens yesterday. As usual we had some early starters and some later starters but the weather and course conditions were pretty much the same all day. What was unusual was the speed of the greens which had been double cut and double ironed for the Gleneagles Pro-am and were considerably quicker than normal. Many people, including myself, sent their first putt back towards a front pin well past and off the green….. this made any downhill putt very very fast and positioning your approach shots became the key to making a score.
Out first in chilly conditions were first round leader and 2021 champion Douglas Hamilton together with third placed Ken Marshall who also has a win and two podium finishes in this event in the past few years. Ken produced a gross 72, nett 67, but couldn’t make any headway into Douglas’s lead eventually finishing 5 shots behind. A very high bar of 6 under par, 3 under in both rounds, had been set.
Over to the late starters…. decent rounds of 67 from David Mitchell (again) and Iain Aitchison moved them into third and fourth place respectively but no-one came close to catching Douglas who won both rounds for a comfortable victory. Congratulations Douglas!
5/7: As one card is still outstanding, apparently it is an NR but yet to be confirmed, we cant confirm the result of this years Presidents Platter but it would appear that Douglas has won both rounds and has won it for the second time in 3 years. Well done Douglas.
As a reminder to everyone: if you cant complete your card for whatever reason please let me know as soon after the round as possible as EVERY card matters as far as closing off a competition is concerned…..
