September Update

Its hard to believe that it’s September already, our season is coming to a close but there are still plenty of exciting events coming up:

This weekend we have THREE!

On Saturday we have a medal on the Kings which is also the final round of this years Strokeplay Championship. You don’t need to have played in the previous rounds to enter this but you obviously won’t be able to win the main prize. Tee times are from 8am to 9.30 and you can enter on the app. Medal and Strokeplay Round 3 — Dun Whinny Golf Club

On Sunday afternoon we have our annual mixed foursomes event with Dunbracken, the Secretaries Salvers, on the Queens with a meal and prize giving in the Dormy afterwards. Secretaries Salvers — Dun Whinny Golf Club Also on Sunday afternoon we have an away match at Blairgowrie. Both of these events are currently full but if you are available a reserve or two is always handy, please let Andrew or myself know.

The following weekend, September 16th, we have the Captain’s Prize on the Queens. It’s a stableford from the yellow tees so a very popular event which anyone has a chance of winning, assuming Alan Black is going to watch Hibs play….. there is also a rumour circulating that some people might be staying on for a few drinks afterwards which sounds like an excellent idea :)

On Saturday 23rd we have our Autumn Meeting on the Kings which is another popular event so please get your entries in promptly.

As usual you can see detailed event coverage in the news section of our website, just click on the event. Talking of the website it’s great to see so many people contributing to the content. We have had recent event reports from David Logie, Eric Lambert and Daley Smith as well as match reports from Keith Stirling, Andrew Watson and Frank Johnson and its great to see from Franks Captain/Pro match reports that he has finally got around to reading the 100 best Trump Speeches book he got from Jan a few Christmas’s ago. Well done to all and if you would like to have a go yourself please let us know.

Alan Black actually did volunteer and has submitted reports for the past three weeks. The first one said “I won” and the next two said “please refer to my previous report!”

Talking of Alan he is now a single figure handicap, or is he? He index is 9.9, does that count? He is also making a late charge up the Order of Merit making what was a two horse race into a very exciting three way shoot out. details here: Competitions — Dun Whinny Golf Club

In this same section you can also track the progress of the singles and foursomes knockouts which have reached the semi final stage. Two people have made it to the semis of both which is quite an achievement.

Lastly please be aware that on news articles you also have the ability to Comment on anything so feel free to make use of that feature.
