Stableford Queens March 2nd

2/3/24: Our “warm up” stableford on the Queens today lived up to its billing as it was played in unexpectedly warm conditions on a course in superb condition for this time of year. Good scores were expected but some tricky pin positions made it harder than it looked. Mark Higham spent most of last season coming runner up to Alan Black but managed to beat him this time (as did everyone else). Mark scored a solid 36 points to pip David Logie on the back nine.

Jonathan Fletcher continued his good form, scoring 35 points and avenged his fourball defeat on Thursday by giving playing partner Iain Aitchison a sound thrashing. David Mitchell and new boy Tariq Ali are looking good for the season ahead as are another new comer Jonny Dickson and one of our longest standing members Jim Crawford. Bill Sexton and Douglas Hamilton were back and both somehow managed to score 32 points, beware the injured golfer….

Two cards are missing, no idea why but I know who they are.

Next up we have the much anticipated Captain vs Vice Captain match on the Kings next Saturday, March 9th, with Daley looking to avenge last years defeat to Frank’s team. If you haven’t signed up yet then you can do so on the app, we currently have 36 entries so it should be a good event. The draw, result etc will appear in the next article.
