Stableford. Queens. Saturday September 28th.
A chilly morning, fast greens and some interesting pin positions were the main challenges facing the competitors in this mornings stableford from the white tees on the Queens. The second group out showed what was possible with Alastair Shand coming in with 37 points, a score matched by Mark Higham a couple of groups behind. Alastair’s playing partner Thomas McCulloch went one better courtesy of a tremendous back nine of 23 points.
The back nine was the scoring nine for most with Christian Stewart also making 23 points on it and several others scoring more than 18. In contrast there was only one front nine better than 18.
David Logie managed 18 after a level par 35 on the front but then came back in a gross 29 for a further 21 points and a total of 39, a score no-one could match. He went round in a gross 64, which equals his age, and is a tremendous feat for someone so young. His card is below. Well done David for one of the standout rounds of the year.
He doesn’t win anything and, as you can imagine, has already qualified for next weeks “Winners” event but will now be playing off a slightly lower handicap.
Also worth a mention were Iain Aitchison and Billy McNeill who both scored 36 points to finish tied for 5th.
Club Secretary Keith Stirling had a decent round, one of his highlights was being able to stop his drive at the 12th in this impossible spot just before the ridge. He then hit it from there to about 5 feet….. I will leave what happened next to your imagination….
This Saturday we have a friendly stableford from the White Tees on the Queens. The following week is our “Winners” final so if you haven’t already qualified by winning something then this is your final chance to book a spot.
Tee times are 8am - 10am and the draw will appear here later in the week. As usual please send any special requests to me (Ken Marshall).
