Winter Event 11/11 Report
Today was the first of our Winter events. I had no intention of doing a report for any of them but as there were a few things worth reporting, and I wasn’t doing anything else, I though I might as well tell you what happened…..
An overnight frost delayed the start by 90 mins but once we got going we were treated to a beautiful sunny day on a course in remarkable condition for November. Despite there being no official competition many in the 22 man field started looking on the app for their scorecard. Fortunately Frank was on hand and following a short intensive training session was able to generate scorecards for everyone who wanted them. This was fortunate as we had several scores worthy of being entered into the app.
Al Cantlay went round in a level par 68 which was great but was 4 shots worse than one of his playing partners, Neil Lock, who did this….. unfortunately his 42 points is only good enough to put him second in the Race for the Tom Brown Tankard (best stableford score in the winter) as Alan Tarney got 43 points on the Queens on Tuesday.
Not everyone completed a scorecard but the best of those who did are shown below.
it doesn’t end there, there were a few more shots to remember. Our guest for the day, former member David Roxburgh, made a two nett one at the 14th but still didn’t buy any drinks….. and Kevin Dickson came up with a contender for Shot of the Season from this spot on the 17th.
He knocked it onto the green then 2 putted for remarkable 4….
NOTE: If you would like any of your scores to count toward the various Winter events including the eclectics please send your card or screen printout to David Logie.
PS: I forgot to mention that I found one of Mike Page’s tees on the 18th. If someone can let him know that I have it that would be great :)
