Winter Events Results Summary
From David Logie: The final results are in and a combination of poor March weather and the outstanding results already laid down means little change to the results published at the end of February.
Many thanks to all who took part in the Winter competitions. We had 18 members recording scores in Tom Brown Tankard for the best overall Stableford score and it was clear that quantity of scores submitted was no guarantee of success. The winner Alan Tarney won with his only round of the year. I guess when that equates to 43 points you can afford to rest on your laurels! Congratulations Alan. Honourable mentions to last years winner Bill Sexton who was second on countback, Neil Lock with his only card a gross 64 (42 points), Douglas Hamilton with only two cards, because of injury, also with 42 points and Ken Marshall with a super 42 points on Kings.
The other trophy for the best 4 scores throughout the Winter was retained by Bill Sexton with a terrific total of 159. Second with 154 was Ken Marshall who couldn’t quite equal his terrific Kings scores with the same on Queens to enable him to catch Bill.
That leaves the eclectic scores (for fun and bragging rights only) with honours going to Logie, Lambert and Sexton spookily all playing together on the swamp that was the PGA this morning! Highlights were 6 eagles including an unlikely one on the 16th on Queens from Iain Aitchison which I had the pleasure of watching kick of the banking into the hole😄
With 9 of us submitting the vast majority of scores it would be good to see a few more members taking part next year and give Alan and Bill a run for their money. You never know you might only need one score to win! Until next Winter. David
PS: Many thanks to David for keeping track of all of these and just for completeness the winners of the Fourball Knockout were Kevin Beattie and Adam Lovelock who defeated David Mitchell and Iain Aitchison in a closely contested final - full results for this are below together with all the other events. Ken.
