Charity 4BBB Result

Our charity Four Ball Better Ball event was played from the White tees on the Queens earlier today in glorious weather and on the best greens we have seen all year. The annoying tricky breeze that has plagued us all year was still there though to make things more difficult than they appeared.

Scoring on the app was also challenging but once we realised that only the first person in each fourball could keep score and that only the people not keeping score could see the team scores it was simple….. I guess it is designed for use in a pro-am.

First to set a target were Lockhart and Black, playing in the first group they returned a very creditable 39 points. Pre tournament favourites (according to Eric) were the Pauls, Lewis and Kelly, and they lived up to their billing scoring 40 points, 20 on each nine. No-one managed to beat this but it was matched by Club Captain Mike Page partnering Queens specialist Douglas Hamilton. A quick glance at the scores and we had clear winners……. Page and Hamilton with only 16 on the front but 24 on the back nine.

Well done both, you get to choose which charity receives the proceeds and also get a bottle of Daley’s whisky, pictured below.

PS: Playing at the back of the field, but not in the event, Rob Crockart and David Logie managed to secure victory in their Daily Mail Foursomes match to reach, I think, the sixth round, well done also.

Next up we have our July monthly medal on the PGA this Saturday, the Jack Adams Stableford on the Queens on Wednesday 27th then the infamous Blue Tees (or Senior Open tees) event on the Kings on July 30th. All of these are available to enter on the app.

Caption Competition: we didn’t have any decent entries last week…. Best of a bad bunch was Eric with “Last of the summer beer” with two grumpy old men reminiscing and Keith with “the chuckle brothers: beer to me beer to you”. Neither is worth a prize so I am donating the yellow Slazenger to Mrs Marshall who probably lost it in the first place :)
