Club Championship and Millennium Qualifying Round 2. Queens. Saturday June 15th.
The second and final qualifying round for this years Club Championship and Millennium Knockouts took place this morning in changeable conditions…. we started with a fog delay, then it got quite warm, then it rained, then it got warm again…. etc the picture above which was taken by Andy Lothian sums it up quite well.
Best gross score of the day yet again was David Logie with a gross 70 closely followed by George and James with 72’s but the outstanding round of the day was Thomas McCulloch’s 73 nett 60 which put him as top seed for the Millennium and first reserve for the Championship. You can see today’s scores below and the Knockouts at the following link. The draws will be updated as people confirm their availability.
Club Championship and Millennium Knockout Draws. — Dun Whinny Golf Club
The second and final round of this years qualifying for our Club Championship and Millennium Knockout events takes place on the Queens this Saturday. The Best 8 aggregate GROSS scores go onto the Club Championship and the next best 8 NETT scores compete in the Millennium. Both knockouts take place at the same time but on different courses. The draws for both will be seeded and will appear on here after Saturday’s round.
IMPORTANT: If you play in both qualifying rounds but can’t make ALL of the following dates/times then please let me know so I can exclude you from the draws:
Quarter Finals: 5pm Friday June 21st
Semi Finals: 8am Saturday June 22nd
Finals: 8am Sunday June 23rd
The draw will appear here on Wednesday.
If you are not able to take part in the match play stages you are still welcome to join in but priority in this weeks draw will be given to those who are trying to qualify. For anyone who doesn’t want to play a medal round we have also booked 7:50 on the PGA - if you fancy this please let me know. For those playing in the medal, even if you can’t play in the knockout stages the normal rules of golf still apply - please read the reminder below from Frank:
“Although some of you playing on Saturday are not eligible for the Club Championship/Millennium knock-out stages, or have indicated that you are not able to make these dates, it is a normal standalone counting round for handicaps and our Order of Merit therefore you are required to submit a score for each hole (or you should mark as “Pick Up” on the app if you do not complete any hole). As a result, you must comply with the rules of golf such as holing out (gimmies are not allowed) and applying the 3 minute rule when looking for balls etc.”
Please also note the following competitions which are taking place next week as well as the Knockouts:
On Wednesday June 19th we have the First round of the Presidents Platter on the Kings
On Saturday June 22nd there is a stableford on the PGA for those who are not involved in the knockouts. This will count for handicaps but not for the Order of Merit. Daley will be organising this event so please address any special requests to him.
Separate articles for both of these will be published in the News section in due course.
