Dinner Dance & Prizegiving

It might have been Bonfire Night on Saturday, and the evening certainly went off with a bang, as we were welcomed to the Glendevon restaurant for a champagne reception, by our Captain Mike Page.
We were then expertly piped through to the Ballroom, by Mike’s son, Jamie before being served a fantastic 5 course dinner.
Mike then had some further duties to perform as Captain by performing a short speech which reminded all our guests, that whilst it is important to celebrate the prize-winners of the year, that the dinner is also about celebrating the friendships and camaraderie that the club has championed over the last 86 years.
Mike’s wife Judith then completed the Page family contributions for the evening by assisting our Vice Captain (and Club Secretary) Frank Johnson in awarding all the trophies to each the successful members.
In the tradition of the Dun Whinny dinner, the prizegiving was rounded off by our Club Champion of 2022, George Stubbs, who had also prepared a few words to celebrate his achievement of reclaiming his title after almost 3 decades!
We then had a short break before our friends, the supremely talented band, Abandon, provided the entertainment for the night. They may have even been joined for a cameo by one of the members, however by this time, my poor photography skills had only gotten worse, I’m sure this was just tiredness and nothing to do with the wine!
Below are some of my pictures of the evening, however if anyone has any to add, please send them onto me and I’ll update this post on the site.
Bonus points if you can spot the winner on the night who had already packed his multiple trophies away, prior to me getting round the room to grab his picture…obviously he’s a seasoned winner at these events and knows to get the trophies safely away, so that he can enjoy himself without having to collect them all later.
Lastly, whilst there weren’t any prizes for attendance, it was great that Sandy Grant was able to make it to the dinner, despite a trip to PRI, earlier that day. A sterling effort Sandy, however, we all know that it would have taken a lot more than a fractured wrist to keep you away from a good party 😉
