Par Competition. Updated 22/4/23

Captain Frank Johnson driving at the 8th watched by Jonathon and George.

Todays Par event took place in glorious sunshine, and a fresh breeze, on the Queens course this morning. The first groups out set a decent target with Bill Sexton getting a half, Andy Lothian losing by one hole and Mike Collier winning by one hole but the first really good score came from Nigel Gallier who used his low ball flight to good effect in the tricky wind to finish 3UP.

This looked to be a winning score until Alan Black matched it leaving only the final four ball in with a chance of beating it. Ken “Iron Man” Swa, playing his 6th game in a row came close at 2UP but Mike “loves to win a comp without a trophy” Cantlay lived up to his nickname with a magnificent gross 74 to finish 5UP on the course…..!!!

Well done to everyone who beat the course and very well done to Mike - there is a rumour circulating that there might even be a trophy for this coming soon so watch this space….

Leading scores

On Saturday April 22nd we have our annual match against a course, this years its the Queens, Yellow Tees (not White as per fixture list), starting from 7.30!! You play match play against the course, it always makes a par and never gives a putt so its quite a tough challenge. Whoever finishes most UP, or least DOWN is the winner. Just enter your scores on the app as if it’s a stableford and the app will work out your score. As its a match play event it will not count towards your handicap.

The draw is below, if you need to enter or withdraw then please let me know. We currently have 6 spaces available for late entries. Please check back on Friday evening as it always changes….. please also check the other news items for updates.
