President’s Platter - Second Round

The second and final round of this years Presidents Platter took place on the Queens this evening. The conditions were “challenging” , starting into a “strong breeze” the first hole average was 6 but among the leaders only Millennium Champion David Mitchell went for the 7 that normally guarantees victory.

Playing in the same group, Millennium runner up and first round leader Aidan O’Carroll, who has never won a trophy in 21 years as a Dun Whinny member, opted for a steady start but, when the weather started to get rather pleasant he made his move with a birdie at 5, a par at 6 and a chip in for another birdie at 7. This increased his first round lead from one to “comfortable” and a steady back nine of 38 (nett 33) was enough to win both rounds, lap the field and finish 8 shots ahead.

Congratulations to Aidan on his maiden victory and based on his play today it certainly won’t be another 21 years before he wins again.

Full scores are below and on the app.

Next up we have the Hally Trophy on the Kings on Saturday and a Four Ball Better Ball team event on the Queens the following Saturday. Both are available to enter on the app.

The greens on all 3 courses are now starting to look good and should be amazing by the time the Seniors arrive. FYI our event on July 30th will be from the same tees as they will play so get your name down asap.

Finally, the best caption for the headline photo of David and Aidan planning their tee shots on 17 will win the pinnacle I found while looking for David’s ball shortly afterwards
