Stroke Play Round 2

Round 2 of our stroke play championship took place today on the PGA in challenging conditions from the white tees! Despite the weather forecast to the contrary it stayed dry but a tricky breeze, rough that was growing as we played, wet sand and the dreaded pin position 5 made things “interesting”.

Despite this there were several excellent performances: Kevin Beattie with a nett 71 was the best and he somehow managed to make a two at the 4th which was playing more like a par 4 than 3! Aidan O’Carroll got it to three under after 16 but unfortunately the golf devil showed up and he finished 666 to knock him back to level par. By far the best gross, and third nett, was David Logie with a gross 74.

This leaves the Nett event finely balanced with 11 players within 6 shots going into the final round on the Kings on September 10th. The Gross event is not quite so close with David Logie leading by 7 shots from Neil Lock and David McColgan. Full scores and standings are below:

Coming up we have the second round of the Presidents Platter, which is also finely balanced, on the Queens this Wednesday. The leaders are teeing off at 5pm so if you are not playing it might be worth following on the app.

Next Saturday we have the Hally Prize with one of the nicest trophies in the club up for grabs. We already have a decent entry so get your name in quick if you fancy your chances of stopping me defending it

The Singles and Foursomes are both progressing nicely with most games now into the Quarter Finals, you can follow the progress on the app.

Lastly if you haven’t already done so please visit www.dunwhinny.com to see the latest version of our new website which Daley has been developing for us.
