Stableford Saturday March 25th. Kings Yellow Tees.
A lovely fresh Spring morning saw us take to the Kings for the final Winter event of the season, or the first of the pre season, and the first using the new app….!! As you can see by the leaderboard there were lots of very good scores and also a few less good but we wont mention these so well done to everyone especially Mike, Colin, Bill and Mike who all beat their handicaps. Unfortunately for them there were no prizes on offer, only bragging rights, and for Bill and Mike P (who did GP scores) a handicap cut is also on the cards.
26 out of 30 managed to get the app to work as it should which to be honest is far better than I had imagined so well done everyone. One tested whether it could keep score if he didn’t bring his phone - his partners kept score for him but this didn’t work. One created his own card and did a General Play score instead. The app crashed on the other two, who were marking each others cards so are maybe connected, so not their fault and they did submit a scorecard which I managed to put in on Sunday morning.
All in all a promising start and hopefully it will work even better this Saturday in our first proper event of the season, the JD Penny Shield on the Queens. I could see the draw and a leaderboard on the back end system so hopefully Scottish Golf will allow you to see these as well in due course.
This Saturday, March 25th, we will have a friendly, non counting stableford on the Kings. Preferred lies and gimmies are allowed for the final time. The draw is below and will be updated if necessary on Friday evening so please check back then to see if anything has changed.
Please enter and keep score via the app as follows:
Open the App, go to the Scorecard tab and open the one at the top dated March 25th (this will appear on the day). Add the player or players you want to score for by clicking the Add Player button, typing in their surname and choosing from the list, you can keep score for up to 3 other players.
Once done click start round. After each hole use the + or - keys to input the score for each player (use the … button for a blob). Once all scores are in press next to go to the next hole.
Continue in this manner until all holes are complete. If the scores entered by you and anyone marking your card don’t tally you will receive a message to inform you. Fix the problem by scrolling or swiping back to the hole in question, correct the error and carry on. Once finished, check with your playing partners that all scores match then confirm and sign the on screen box.
You can view all the scores you are keeping as you go by clicking on the menu button at the top left and you can easily pop in and out of the app without doing any harm. There is no leaderboard or caddy function available yet but these should become available in future updates.
Please let me know if you have any problems doing any of this. For more info on how to use the app including screen shots please go here : New App info — Dun Whinny Golf Club
