Summer Meeting Report: It felt more like Autumn than Summer when we set off this morning on the Kings for our Summer Meeting Medal. The course also felt longer, because it was, a few new blue tees were constructed for the Senior Open and several of the white tees had been moved to the old blue positions, and some had even moved to the new blue positions! This together with a cold gusty wind meant that scores were unlikely to be great and they weren’t……
First out was Paul “the bridesmaid” Lewis, he parred all the par 3’s and finished with 5 pars but two 8’s meant he finished 6 over to set a target. Right behind him Ken Marshall showed his intent by starting with the 7 that normally guarantees victory in our events. A steadier next 17 and Paul’s score was improved by one.
David Logie, then Rory Bain (despite an 8) then posted gross 75, nett 75 to tie the lead in the scratch and handicap sections. Playing together towards the end of the field Alan Black and Douglas Hamilton, who together reached the semi final of the foursomes earlier in the week also managed to match the target of nett 75 to make it a five way tie for first place.
Trophies are awarded for the best 2 from 3 scratch and handicap score from the three meetings and the only people to have submitted two scores are as follows with David Logie leading both sections with a round to go. Several others have played one of the two rounds so might also be in with a chance.
Summer Knockouts. Both the singles and foursomes have now reached the semi final stages. The draws are as follows:
Singles. Ken Marshall vs David McLeod
Ewan Kinnear vs Jason Wilding
Foursomes. Black & Hamilton vs Lothian & Collier
Murphy & Roe vs Barton & Moran
