WRM Hally Prize. Kings, White Tee Stableford. Saturday July 6th.

A strong field of 37 turned up to compete for this year’s Hally Prize on the Kings. The forecast was dodgy but as it turned out the conditions were perfect with no wind, no rain and a course in superb condition. Some interesting pin positions showed that the greenkeepers might also have been expecting poor weather.

First to set a target was Billy McNeill who had amassed 41 points by the time he reached the 18th tee, unfortunately for him he didn’t score any more which was to prove costly as in the group behind Ken Marshall, who is still on some weird winning streak, also finished with 41 points but with a better back nine!

Several people came very close to matching this, David Logie shot 2 under gross, Iain Aitchison and Paul Lewis showed welcome returns to form with 39 and 38 points respectively and Paul Kelly and Crawford Gray managed 37 each - a score which would have won many competitions in the past.

So the streak continues …. well done me!

Next up we have a friendly 4BBB over the PGA with a random draw for partners, you can enter on the app, lets hope I get someone good :)

Billy and Ken were tied on 41 points…

One of our best looking trophies is up for grabs in a one off stableford over the Kings this Saturday. You can enter via the app and the draft draw is below. Our Tee times are 7.00am to 9.00am so if you fancy earning some brownie points by getting home really early then just let me know.

History: The Hally Prize first started in 1960 J A Hally one of the original members of the Club in 1936 donated a prize each year for Stableford competition over the Kings course from the medal tees. The actual date of commencement is not entirely clear but certainty from 1960 onwards this prize has been in existence and continues to this day being supported firstly by his son Mike Hally and now by his grandson Richard Hally. The prize used to be in the form of a gift rather than a trophy but we now have a magnificent cut glass trophy to play for.
